Beth photo--No backgroundHello Everyone,

We have a lot of textbooks moving through the pipeline. One new textbook came out this spring

Business Analytics by Hugh Watson

 and one revision

(Intro IS for Business
by Belanger, Van Slyke, and Crossler

A revised version of Database Systems by Nenad Jukić is coming out this fall. And a variety of titles are in process.

Also, we have taken the plunge and rolled out an Instagram campaign mentioned further below. Meanwhile, the manner for delivering our textbooks has evolved a bit.

VitalSource Acquires RedShelf

Until now, our two primary distributors had been VitalSource and RedShelf. In April, VitalSource announced that they had acquired RedShelf. Accordingly, Prospect Press will be switching our review copies to VitalSource. You can also self-sample eTextbooks from Prospect Press as well as other publishers directly at the VitalSource Educators’ Portal. It is delightfully convenient.

Prospect Press textbooks are also available through Perusall for use in their innovative LMS that emphasizes student engagement with their reading.

Follett, who operates numerous college bookstores, had previously partnered with RedShelf for delivering eTextbooks. With the recent change, Follett has switched its preferred provider to Kortext. Prospect Press books are now available through Kortext at Follett Bookstores in the United States. However, only through these bookstores for this distributor; Prospect Press textbooks are not available for direct purchase from Kortext in the U.S. But, Kortext does provide direct access from their platform outside the U.S. This is great news for faculty members teaching outside the U.S.

Instagram

This summer, Prospect Press initiated social media activity on Instagram. Our posts mostly feature our textbooks and author videos identifying key features in an entertaining manner with reels and upbeat music. Click here to follow Prospect Press on Instagram.

If you don’t already follow me on LinkedIn and wish to, then click here. On this platform, I post announcements of our new titles, show our travels to professional meetings, and repost interesting tidbits from colleagues.

This accessible text by a renowned author is for students either aiming for a career in analytics or expecting to encounter it in their professional career.

The textbook draws on Hugh Watson’s extensive experience teaching, researching and especially consulting in this area. He emphasizes incorporating analytics in business systems, because analytics is much more than just solving math problems.

For those students pursuing a specialized path in analytics, this textbook provides a comprehensive introduction, especially to the context of use. For others, it offers the insights needed to participate confidently in discussions about the essential elements of business analytics.
