Dear Professor,

Prospect Press is now five years old! We started with three textbooks, a smile, and a goal to create a line of textbooks to serve the Information Systems curriculum. This, at a time when other textbook publishers were reducing their commitment to this growing and evolving field.

We now have 15 textbooks that sustain ongoing teaching needs and/or support innovative new directions in the field. We are particularly proud of John Drake’s new book, eCommerce: A Stakeholder Approach. Dr. Drake had a fresh idea for taking a concise and insightful new direction to a topic that has grown dramatically in importance in recent years. As always, we are grateful to all the reviewers that helped this book reach its potential.

Innovative New SA&D Textbook Forthcoming

Our big news for 2020 is that we will be publishing a highly innovative SA&D textbook. Systems Analysis & Design in an Age of Options was developed by Gary Spurrier who has extensive industry experience and Heikki Topi who has devoted extended effort to advance the IS curriculum. This book recognizes the broad range of modern systems development options available and the importance of selecting the best approach for each project. In particular, the book introduces a flexible hybrid approach that combines aspects of plan-driven and agile. This book should be transformative for the IS curriculum, finally bringing advances in practice to this crucial course.

Spurrier & Topi’s textbook will be available for use for Fall 2020 courses. A pre-publication version is available now. Let me know if you would like a copy, and I will get it to you right away.

Regional Conferences

The major national and international IS conferences occur in the summer and fall. During the spring, Prospect Press exhibits at several regional conferences. These meetings provide an excellent and convenient opportunity for faculty to meet their local peers, present, and network in a very congenial environment. I strongly recommend that if you have the opportunity to attend a regional conference that you do so. If you do attend, please stop by our exhibit and say hello. Prospect Press plans to attend the following meetings:

Southern AIS -- Myrtle Beach, SC -- March 27-28, 2020

Midwest AIS -- Des Moines, IA -- May 28-29, 2020

New England AIS -- Location and date to be announced

New Website Finally Here

In my Fall message, I mentioned my enthusiasm about our new website. It is now up and running. As with so many IT projects, it took a little bit longer than expected, especially when it came to QC. We hope that the revised navigation system improves your ability to learn about our books as our list grows.
